Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions about our grey composite decking? Find quick answers to our most frequently asked questions below, ensuring you make an informed decision for your outdoor space.

What is the lifespan of your grey composites?

Well-maintained grey composite decking can last anywhere between 30 to 40 years. This is due to the premium materials and protective features like UV-resistant coatings. These elements are essential in maintaining the colour and enhancing the overall durability of the decking.
Although all composite decking will fade over time, the light grey composite decking generally experiences only slight fading. Consistent cleaning and care are necessary to preserve the decking’s visual appeal and long-term robustness.

Does grey composite decking fade?

Grey composite decking undergoes an initial weathering process, stabilising its colour. This process occurs due to UV exposure and the natural wood oils, known as tannins, being washed out. Although all composite decking boards will fade somewhat from their initial colour, the impact of the sun’s UV rays is much less powerful and noticeable compared to traditional wood. The fading is less distinct on lighter-coloured boards.

What is the lifespan of your boards?

The grey composite decking can last 30 to 40 years if maintained well and in good conditions. High-quality materials and protective layers, including UV-resistant caps, contribute to the decking’s long-term colour stability and overall durability. While all composite decking may fade over time, the fading of black composite decking is usually minimal. Proper maintenance, such as regular cleaning and care, can help maintain the appearance and longevity of the decking.

Do your composite decking boards use recycled materials?

Yes, our boards are made up of 90% recycled material. The composition of the WPC is made up of 60% wood fibres, 30% high density polyethylene (HDPE) both of which are 100% recycled materials. The remaining 10% is made up a chemical additives to form all the materials into the decking board.
